Jon Brandow spent nine years (1976-85) as a welder, activist and elected union officer at the General Dynamics shipyard in Quincy, Massachusetts south of Boston.

His first novel, Goliath At Sunset, is inspired by that experience. The book was released by Hard Ball Press in November, 2025.

Brandow’s non-fiction book The Just Market was published in 2014. He has also written for the Boston Globe, In These Times and Tablet.
